I have several Y-DNA matches to descendants of this Lukosevicius line and regular DNA matches to people in this line.

My great uncle, Aleksander Mordas, is buried in Maine, USA with a Bronislaw Lukaszewicz.

The region all matches up-- my great grandfather was born (Leon Mordas) Leon Tadeusz Mordas in Kovno...in what was then the Russian Empire in 1890....but is now Lithuania.

But HOW does the Mordas surname relate to this family???? I am totally stumped.

Hi, I do not know if the Jan Nepomucen Lukaszewicz line is actually related to me. This was told to me by a Lukoseviicus family member in Lithuania.

In the Lithuanian surname dictionary, Mordas comes from these towns

MOR̃DAS Žg; MORDAS Dt, Kdn, Kn 3 (6). lš Mórdasas (žr.) ar pan.

Dt Dotnuvà (Kėdáinių r.)
Kdn Kėdáiniai
Kn Kaũnas
Žagãrė (Jõniškio r.)

As you can see it is not common
