I'm totally confused. On Ancestry people have her maiden name as Ainsworth but show her parents as

Father: John BLAKELEY (1755–1836)

Mother: Jane Shields (1766–1850)

And then I just posted a note from a descendant stating her maiden name was McCary but not explaining the Ainsworth or any other connection.

I'm 'guessing' the 'Blakeley' may actually be Blakeney since I'm related to these lines and Blakeney is the surname associated with Blackwells and Ainsworths in that area of Mississippi.

My tree on Ancestry show her as "Mary Effa Polly McCray Ainsworth". But no parents listed and no hints given. Mary and Felix's son, Wade, married Matilda Blakeney. Felix and Mary are my 3x great grandparents.

Also, I have noticed two separate birth dates for Felix. 1801 and 1812. The mid 1800s censuses show Felix as a year younger than Mary so I must assume the 1801 birth year is wrong or it's for a different Felix Blackwell. Though, there is a headstone for Felix with 1801-1871 listed and was "Erected by his daughter Mrs. Kate Lyons". Felix and Mary had a daughter named Catherine. Catherine was apparently married to two men, James Hickman and Thomas Lyon. But, notice Lyon does not equal Lyons. There is a newspaper clipping for Catherine's death and the obituary lists her name as both Lyon and Lyons. Her husband's name as Lyon. And her parents as Polly Ainsworth and Felix Blackwell.

Thanks for responding Kriis! I had posted my question about the connections on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/347962535294214/ because usually some of the kinfolk on there are related to anyone we might mention - plenty of Ainsworth, Blakeney and Blackwell descendants on there - but this time no one has had any information.

What you've shared indicates her maiden name was McCray and she married an Ainsworth, right? If so, her maiden name should be corrected here on Geni to avoid people confusing her as an Ainsworth by birth, which is why I was trying to find her Ainsworth parents.

Here is a possibility if her name was really Mary McCray and not Ainsworth. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/McCRAY-62

I'm going to leave it with her direct descendants to try to sort out. I took an interest because of the possibility she was an Ainsworth by birth, since I'm an Ainsworth descendant. I had hoped someone in the group I mentioned would know if / how she might connect but no one had any info on her. If she was born a McCray, I wouldn't be related to her.

I'm back here again and I found others posting on Wiki being confused about her maiden name and her parents:

you have to scroll down the page to read their comments. No one seems to have any conclusive information.

Site like this with lots of Blackwell genealogy just list her as Mary with no maiden name:
