Darius is shown in the 1840 Census of Pensioners at the age of 82 living in Truxton, New York living in the household of his brother in law, Varnum M Burdick. Also, an Elias Benjamin is listed there at age 57, the head of his own household. This might be his first cousin although the age is off by 3 years.

His Obituary in The Chenango Semi-Weekly Telegraph (May 6 1885) under news from Lincklaen (column 3),
"Uncle Darius Benjamin died the 25th of April with the measles, and was buried on the 28th. He was over ninety years old."
Is this the same Darius? He was only 80 in 1885. Maybe the article is wrong about his age? There don't seem to be any other Dariuses in the family who are the right age. Who was he living with? His son in law Varnum had died 20 years earlier in Kansas where he had moved with his family. Nathaniel and Norman Burdick were mentioned later in that column but I can't find their relationship to Vernon. Also mentioned was another adult, Mrs. E. D. (Miller) Coon who also had the measles. Varnum's mother was a Coon so Mrs. Coon's husband could have been a cousin. Maybe that's who Uncle Darius was living with since they got the measles at the same time.
