That said, I continued to search for documentation particularly regarding Elizabeth Bowerman and found that the most reliable sources just don't give any dates for her. So she could be this Williams mother and the problem could be that all the sites listing her date of birth have her dates wrong. However, you'd think she would be listed on Wikipedia with a maiden name if that Elizabeth and Elizabeth Bowerman were the same person. The dates on Wikipedia for that Elizabeth's husband are different too. It seems it has become more 'traditionally accepted' that Elizabeth Bowerman was his mother even if the facts don't fit. If anyone can find documentation of an earlier date of birth for her, that would be helpful.
