Frances Joseph's (nee Cohen, whose middle name was Sarah - after her mother) father was Joel John Cohen (also known as John Joel and by his initials J.J. Cohen) who was born in England in 1799 and who died in Sydney in 1853. He was a silversmith in both Manchester UK and Sydney Australia and came to Australia as a free settler in 1839 with his second wife Frances Sarah Neden (born around 1810 in England, died 1856 in Sydney) who was (later) Frances Sarah Joseph's mother. Joel John Cohen married Frances Sarah Neden in Manchester UK in 1833, after the death of his first wife Rebecca in 1832.
