Montgomery Burnett wrote an offical book on the family of Burnett’s of Barns (you can download a digital copy if you google it) and in there it states that William Burnett, esq, was buried in Saint Gorgone’s Kirk of Manor, (alongside other Burnett’s of Barns family). I can’t see any documents here suggesting this information is correct - does anybody have it, or does this page suggesting his was burial at Leeds actually a mistake?

Also, in the book, there is no son, John of Lweisham listed, and later Ralph is also absent.

Incidentally, the Burnett’s of Barns and the Burnett’s of Leys are two different lines. The Burnett coat of arms used here is of the Burnett’s of Leys ... the Burnett’s of Barns do not use the horn on theirs as this is a distinctly Leys family item.

This William Burnet, Esq was a Draper, not of the lineage you're speaking of, why it stops with him. It is a proven Lewisham branch of a Burnet Family, they're not linked to The Burnets of Barns.

Thank you for the information on the Burnet Coat of Arms I will research this, I actually came to the profiles with the COA added previously. Do you have an idea about the Burnet's that settled Lewisham? I have the original probated Wills. The one of Raph Burnet that references the names, where they lived, the baptism records.

It ends with William that came from Scotland to Lewisham.

Very interesting.
One of his relatives here was listed as “of Barns” which is what got my interest. Secondly, William is listed as born in Peeblesshire... this is historically the seat of the Burnett’s of Barns. The other famous line of Burnett’s in Scotland, the Burnett’s of Leys are from further north, Aberdeen. Do any of the documents state that William was born in Peebles?
Unfortunately I don’t know anything about this Lewisham family, although Ralph’s lineage has always been an interest to me as I may be related. I’d like to know more if you have any other details?

I will be uploading all documentation. This is an interesting family I'm researching. I know really nothing past the Kent England. area. I think many online trees have this lineage of line confused with The Burnet of Barnes lineage of yours. I'm untangling this now using original documentation starting with Raphe Burnet who was a wealthy Master Draper in London, England. We were fortunate his probated Will was very descriptive about his lineage. This is a work in progress. I'm uploading all documentation I have and could use assistance.
