Not that this resolves the matter but it is kind of interesting that Panim Meirot marries Finkel Leah Eisenstadt while Esther Teiber's paternal great grandparents are also associated with Sochaczewer (Rabbi Meir Ephraim Gumpel Katz Ashkenazi, z. Bär, Sochaczewer). Also you have two Meirs in the Esther Teiber lineage (her father and great grandfather). From these perspectives, Esther Teiber seems a better fit.

I learned that some family members from the Sochaczewer family married between themself in order to keep the family name. There are some cases in the Jewish history where daughters or sons both took their parents' last name..

I just saw this in the 'About' section Esther Miriam(?) Teiber

"it is know that the Maharam A"sch was a grand nephew of the Schach from a "haskama" of the Schach's other brother, Rav Yona Nachum.

Eli Handel: Dr. David Dubin wrote to me as follows:

There was uncertainty whether the Maharam was the Shach's nephew or grandnephew. Then a relatrive found a Haskama written by a brother of the Shach mentioning his sister's grandson Rav Meir. Thus, the Maharam was son of Rav Yitzchak. Rav Yitzchak was the son-in-law of Esther, the Shach's sister, daughter of Rav Meir son of Rav Moshe."

Is there any reason to doubt this?

PS: At the moment the tree is not showing what the Haskama quoted above says. Can someone explain the reasoning behind the current tree (which shows wife, Benjamin Zev Wolf Ashkenazi) as the grandmother of the Maharam and no relationship between the Maraham and the Shakh?

Please see for explication of three wives of Shimon Zev Wulf Ashkenazi: http://toladot.blogspot.com/2011/04/blog-post_15.html?m=1 This blogpost summarizes an article by R' Wakstein on this subject. I think what the blogger is saying is that the Maharam is both the grandnephew of the Shakh and the (1/2)nephew of Shakh's wife. He is the grandnephew because Shakh's sister is the mother of the Maharam's mother, and he is the nephew because Shakh's wife is the 1/2 sister of the Maharam's mother (this latter relationship is not a blood relationship between Shakh and the Maharam, but is the source of the Maharam being described as his 'nephew').

This is a quote from the blogpost summary of Wakstein:
"Apparently, the aforementioned Rabbi Shimon Wolf had several marriages. A] The first one's name and her father's name are unknown. From this marriage, his daughter was born - the wife of the Shach. B] The second, Mrs. Esther A.H., the sister of the Shach. From this pairing, the mother of the "bright face" was born . C] In a third marriage, he married Martha Bila AH, daughter of Rabbi Hirsch Dahliner." So according to this, Esther was the mother of the mother of Ponim Meiros.

I don't know how Rabbi Yaakov Hirsch Levenshtam, ABD Brisk & Lublin enters the picture, but perhaps he is the father of the first wife of R' Shimon Wolf mentioned above, in which case he would be the Shakh's wife's maternal grandfather.. I have no evidence of this besides the fact that somehow R' YH Levenstam has become the father of wife, Benjamin Zev Wolf Ashkenazi on Geni.

Another possibility on the spouses is that Rabbi Yaakov Hirsch Levenshtam, ABD Brisk & Lublin aka as Lubliner,,is the same as the R' Hirsh Delhiner mentioned above whose daughter was the third spouse of R' Shimon Wolf (but which did not lead to Panim Meiros, nor was married to the Shakh).

Hi. In sefer Shem Hagedolim at letter מ the last one he says the following.

In English "Rabbi Meir Ashkenazi grandson of the sister of the Shach, grand rabbi of Eisenstadt, author of Panim Meiros Shu"t and on Shas..."

So who can be the one to go against the Chid"u who was one of the prominent rabbis and researchers of Jewish history, and say that the Panim Meiros was not a nephew of the Shach a grandson of his sister?
