Rosa Irene Wass Juho Vihtori Wass
My great grandfather was a glassblower; Johann Victor Wass/Juho Vihtori Wass born 22/3/1881. He left Finland, travelled to Germany to blow glass, some time around 1905, potentially with his parents Isak Alexander Wass born 19/11/1856 and his mother Ulla-Kaisa Abrahamintytär born 30/10/1857.
I have tracked him to Holtorf/Nienburg in Germany, where he marries Rosa Irene Kihlgast born 14/7/1887 and they have two sons born in Germany in Henrik Wass 1907 and Leo Wass 1908. Then the family leave Holtorf 22/9/1910 travels to Jumet/Charleroi/Belgium and arrives there in 24/03/1911. (Pretty long travel time).
My grandfather Karl Wass was born in Jumet on 16/4/1912. Got it confirmed today.
Then Johann, wife and now three sons leave Jumet and go to London on the 31/1/1913 (As if he hasn’t already travelled enough) 😊
Now I loose the family for a while, until (not yet documented) another son Ville Wass is born in Düsseldorf 1916 and wife Rosa is said to die 1/2/1917 in Düsseldorf.
What I know for sure, Johann Viktor manage to travel through WWI Europe back to Karhula in Finland with all four sons alive, because I know when the sons died and where, I just don’t know when they came back to Finland and how.
Anyone who knows if there are records to be found in National archives or on internet. Advise would be great.
Best Katja
Ps: Johann Viktor died in Russia ca. 1933 in an Extinction camp. He is not easy to follow 😊
