Major Mareen Lamar killed in the Battle of Paoli-grandson of Mareen Duvall

The Major served in the Continental Army and was bayonetted on horseback at Paoli. The day after the battle the bodies of the fallen were buried on the spot and the Major lays with 52 fellow soldiers on the Paoli Battlefield outside of Philadelphia. He is the highest ranking officer killed in the battle. He is an "original member" of hte Society of the Cincinnati.
The next Spring, after Valley Forge, "Remember Paoli" became the young nation's first battle cry (and with obvious success).

He is the grandson of two French immigrants to Maryland, Thomas Lamar and Mareen Duvall
