Yes, does seem implausible that Nicholas Pawlett and Mary Hungerford would have had two daughters named Mary!

12/7/2020 at 4:40 AM

I notice a discrepancy for Mary Long who married Henry Long, of Ashley

----
Henry Long, of Ashley m. first, Mary, dau of Richard Paulett of Minety (son of Sir Hugh and brother of Sir Amias, the keeper of Mary Queen of Scots) by Mary, sister of Anthony Hungerford of Lea, near Malmesbury, and has issue.

He m.secondly, Israel, dau of Anthony Hungerford of Lea, (grandson of Sir Anthony Hungerford of Down Ampney) and had issue.

A Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry; Or ..., Volume 3, John Burke, Henry Colburn, 1838, Pg 214. [https://books.google.co.za/books?id=vhpVAAAAcAAJ&pg=PA214&l... GoogleBooks]

Geni is showing this Mary as child of Nicholas Poulett, of Minety and Mary Pawlett not “Richard” as in Burke’s.

I will see if we can relocate the wrong Mary, Mary Southcombe

Disconnected Capt. Thomas Pawlett, of "Argall's Gift" from parents, as Amyas Pawlett was their only son.

Mary PAULET
Born: ABT 1553, Cossington, Somerset, England
Father: Thomas PAULET of Cossington
Mother: Mary MOORE
Married: William SOUTHTON

Disconnected Thomas Pawlett, of Argalls Gift and Marie Eppes as children of Elizabeth Pawlett & Capt. Thomas Pawlett, of "Argall's Gift". Apparently he died without living wife or children , leaving his property to a brother, Lord Pawlettt.

Birth records will be hard. Property, Inquisition Post Mortem (IPM), dower, peerage reports. Check the National Archives, and each of the names mentioned in the MyHeritage tree.

I'm sorry TRish, I looked for all these when you first enquired. There doesn't appear to be a baptism (it would be very unlikely to be a birth record) for Marie in Devon but not all the parishes are online yet so it would be worth checking back from time to time on Find My Past. It looks like this website might give you more details on Sir Thomas
