The Reverend John Bayne was minister of the Gospel at Dingwall in Ross and Cromarty, from 1716 until his death in 1737. According to the Fasti of the Church of Scotland he was the son of John Bayne of Dingwall "descended from the Tulloch family"

The identity of the John Bayne of Dingwall mentioned in the Fasti is not clear. Speaking of him Dingwall Heritage says this: "It is not known whether he was married or not, but the Rev John Bayne of Dingwall (1716 - 1737) is said to have been a son. He is described in Fasti (vol. vii p34) as "Son of John Bayne, Dingwall, descended from the Tulloch Family but according to his descendants the "John Bayne, Dingwall" was John, 7th Laird of Tulloch".

It is my contention that the Reverend John Bayne should be disconnected from John Bayne, seventh of Tulloch, unless and until his paternity can be proved by authentic record evidence. Opinions please.
