Capt. John Rogers, Sr. - The profile needs major clean up and the link is not matching this man's FAG memorial

I have a couple of questions and hoping someone might be able to answer.

1) His Find-a-Grave page says 'Some speculate that John was the son of Ben Rogers' and not even speculation about who his mother might have been, indicating his parentage isn't actually documented and validated but just speculation. Does anyone have proof that the parents connected on Geni are correct?

The Find-a-Grave page also states:

"John started the Roger surname connected with the Cherokee" and list several of his descendants. This seems to indicate that, like many back in that time period, he 'assumed' a surname, in this case Rogers. If that's true, this would rule out Rogers parents. Doesn't seem like we can have it both ways. If he was born from a Rogers father, he wouldn't have had to start the Rogers name. He would have been born with it.

2) The Find-a-Grave page also has:

Page 70;....he [Samuel Houston] had married a Cherokee woman, Talihina ["Tina"] (also know as Diana) Rogers, daughter of John Jolly's brother, John Rogers

I'm particularly interested in the connection to Chief John Jolly but don't understand how they were brothers. If this John was born in Scotland of parents there, how are he and John Jolly brothers? 'IF', however, as stated, John wasn't actually born in Scotland but was, like his brother Chief John Jolly, born from a common parent in Colonial America, that would explain both the comment about him starting the Rogers name among the Cherokee and how he and Chief Jolly could be brothers. I'd have to surmise, if that's the case, they shared a common Cherokee mother since they were both named John but with different surnames.

I'm just 'thinking outside the box' trying to reconcile statements and connections that don't seem to add up, in my opinion.

The Find-a-Grave comments make it clear that some have confused this John Rogers Sr.'s relationship and his son John Rogers Jr.'s relationship with Chief John Jolly and makes it clear it was John Sr. who was Chief Jolly's brother and that Chief Jolly was John Jr.'s uncle. No explanation is given, however, as to how John Sr. and Chief Jolly are brothers. And I notice that Chief Jolly isn't even connected as his brother.

If anyone can shed more light on these connections to help clarify them, that would be wonderful. Maybe I'm just missing some info that should be added to their profiles. Thanks!
