Gertrud was my grandmother and living with my family at the time of her death. Getrud was on painkillers and shortly before her death, she fell asleep with a cigarette in her hand and burned herself and part of the house. After she recovered from the hospital, she was placed in a nursing home where she fell into a deep depression. She apparently took a heavy dose of painkillers and passed away.
