What links David Naudé as the father of Philippe Naude, der Ältere?
Cutting the link to this father, pending sources.
@Sharon Hi!
https://books.google.no/books?id=r9ggAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA833&lpg=.... s 831. may give some information
Hi Sharon,
I think the baptism records are for Philip being the father of David 5 April 1623, and not David being the father of Phillippe the Elder.
Someone added this Baptism record to both David and Philip the Elder's Sources.
Was bit confusing. But so still no records of Phillippe the Elder's parents.
Got excited for nothing. :(
I don't know if this discussion is still open, but the only record I could find on Familysearch was the following:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:S3HY-6FWD-CS?i=203&... (Baptism, Marriage and Burial records for Mentz from 1561 to 1685)
The name of the person on this page is indicated as PIERRE Naudé. He was born on 28 December 1654 and died in 1729...
But then, I found this book in German about his life by Joachim Naudé that was published in 2021:
https://books.google.co.za/books?id=PeodEAAAQBAJ&printsec=front...
Herein it is stated where and when he was born and passed away (refer to page 4 - looks like an old record). Also: follow the link and type in '1654' in the search box on the left of the web-page (desktop/laptop). In the search results a box with a preview of a part of page 5 is shown (the whole page is not viewable). Here it is indicated that Phillip Naudé was born in December 1654 in Metz and passed away on 7 March in 1729 in Berlin. It also states that his father was David Naudé (a cloth dealer) and his mother was Marthe Mittalat, a citizen from Metz.
Maybe the inscription in the Church file is erroneous?
