Elizabeth Merritt Or Elizabeth Hyland?

References given in Elizabeth Pincin profile but Hyland is an MP.

Private User I believe Elizabeth Pincin is correct.

Also all the wrong Smart Matches attached to this profile with Hyland as parents need to be deleted.

Elizabeth, the wife of John Merritt, was the daughter of Thomas Pincin and Elizabeth White.

There is a separate PM conversation about this as well. Thank you for making a public thread instead -- public threads are always best.

I think we need to untangle some mismerges on the profile. It looks like she was solidly Elizabeth Merritt for many years, then she was merged with Elizabeth Pinson, then she was merged with the Elizabeth who married Cudworth.

To me, it would make a lot more sense to restore her to Elizabeth Merritt, especially she was a real person (just in the weong spot), then create a new Elizabeth Pinson (or use the mismerged one) to attach here.

Linda's copy of Pinson is so nice -- my personal approach would be to merge Shary's copy into that one so Shary could still co-manage, and attach Pinson as Merritt's wife.

It would be nice to get a link to this article.

Although it has been claimed that Elizabeth married in 1686 John Merritt (son of John), it was apparently Elizabeth Pinson who married John. See Maclean W. McLean’s article “The Daughters of Thomas Pinson (1640-1714), The American Genealogist 50 (1974), 98-99

I’ve separated out Elizabeth Merritt from Elizabeth Hyland
