It's possible that his name was John. The next generation named there first boy John and a daughter Mary, in line with naming conventions of the time, but no sign of a Thomas.
There are records I have seen elsewhere of a John Robertson and Mary Wilson the right period, area etc.
Just throwing it out there in case someone may have a thought on this.
