According to the records, the first baptism officiated by GH Todd in Montserrat was 27th November 1846 (BAP_StA_1841_082). He died October 26th 1869 (More Monumental Inscriptions: Tombstones of the British West Indies p.44) aged 56, and was buried in St Anthony churchyard Montserrat the next day (Burial records). As his widow died in St Kitts (or Nevis) perhaps Edward Gardner Todd, born on April 4 1846, in St Kitts (see myheritage dot com for Colin Campbell Todd, 1891 - 1951) was a child of theirs also.
Unfortunately the baptism records for St Anthony parish Montserrat where he was Rector are missing from 1855-61 (noted in 1970s by Delores Somerville who did many record transcriptions, stored and digitised at the Montserrat National Trust. Government Registration started in 1863 but early records are not extant). The last marriage at which he officiated was July 29 1869 - perhaps he fell ill thereafter, as the next marriage recorded is not until after his death.
The Report on the Blue Book for Montserrat 1848 indicates that the parish church of St Anthony, Plymouth, of which he was Rector was greatly in need of urgent repair.
It is clear from Montserrat and other records that no decent salary was forthcoming for him as between January 1857 and August 1861 there are many entries in the Registrar Book of Deeds of debts he owed to local merchants, who on his behalf were asked to lobby the local legislature for a salary. This was a result of the general terrible state of the colony's finaces during this period. A grant was finally paid in 1862 of £180. The Report on the Blue Book for Montserrat 1867 indicates that his salary package was then £247 15s 6d.
