My Aunt Gladys really had the most unfortunate life, although I know quite little about it. I know she suffered brain damage as a small child and was mentally handicapped for the rest of her short life. Her father and mother died when she was still under their care, and she was sent to Camarillo State Hospital, where she spent the final three years of her life -- enduring terrible treatment and being subject to a lobotomy, which almost certainly contributed to the end of her precious life. You can read about Camarillo Hospital in this detailed and graphic account at: https://users.resist.ca/~kirstena/pagecamarillo.html.
Gladys is buried in the same cemetery as her parents and her brother Julian.
