I have seen many trees and sites that lists his name as SIR Francis Purdy but have found no resources to verify this fact. Was he a knight, and if so, what year and where was he knighted? Was he knighted in a ceremony or on a battlefield? Verification would be much easier if I had a battle he fought in, a king he fought for or the name of a liege.
