How to update a locked profile or suggest a change?

What am I supposed to do when it is suggested to me to update a profile that I manage which comes up with the a note like:
, "Caution: Relationships are locked on the master profile for Charlotte Maugis. Merging into this profile will automatically disconnect the immediate family of Charlotte Maugis."

Should these somehow be referred to the curator who placed the lock? Or simply ignored?

If you are knowledgeable in the area around the profile, then you can merge and re-attach as needed. If you don't know enough, then reaching out to the curator is a good idea.

Another thing that can be done is tagging the two profiles in the discussion like this:
Charlotte Maugis
Charlotte Maugis

That should alert any manager or follower of the discussion.
