Margaret would not of been born at Pembroke castle as it was only built by Anulf of Montgomery in around 1093. It did not come into the Marshall family until Grandson William became Earl of Pembroke in 1189.

According to Diana Jean Muir, she was born November 5, 1083, in Venoix, Calvados, Normandy, France (where her father was from). Died 1119 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire, Wales. She was evidently his only heir, and married Gilbert FitzRobert Giffard, le Mareschal (sui uxoris) in 1104, in Pembroke.

She also states that her husband was born 1075 in Somersetshire, England; died 1130 in Marlbourough, Wilshire, England.
