I believe there is evidence that this Sarah Wheeler did not marry the Daniel Stanton of this tree, but another Daniel Stanton, possibly from R.I. It is more likely that Richard was a son of Martha Pickford and Daniel Stanton.
Daniel was mentioned in the will of his father, Thomas Stanton, dated Oct 24, 1677 being bequeathed two pieces of land in the vicinity of Hot House Brook and the Ashawog River. About 1680, Daniel married Martha Pickford, daughter of Robert and Honor Pickford, née Jones. On June 1, 1681, Daniel Stanton, now resident in Barbados, made a will, the typed transcription of which records his forename as Darrell, which is probably an error as the will mentions his wife Martha, with child and mother-in-law, Mrs Pickford. He also refers to his estate real and personal in New England or elsewhere, which he leaves to Martha and the child upon birth. There is no mention of other children. I suggest this child, who would have been born about the end of 1681 or early 1682, was Richard Stanton. In 1683, Robert Jones, brother of Honor, bequeathed unto Richard Stanton the son of Mr Danyell Stanton a negroe boy. In the will of Honor Pickford of St. Michael parish, Barbados, of July 22, 1687, she mentions my grand child Richard Stanton. Daniel and Martha had two more children, Hannah, in 1682 and Daniel in 1685, but both may have died in or before 1687, the year of death of their father. Martha died in or before 1706.
