Please can a Curator assist us with the Montague lineage? Thank you,

Managers of Sir Edward Montagu, of Boughton,

Edward Montagu, b. 1485, can't possibly be the grandson of Frances Cotton Montagu.
Sincerely,

Montagu, Sir Edward (1480s–1557), judge, the second son of Thomas Montagu (d. 1517), of Hemington, Northamptonshire, and Agnes, daughter of William Dudley of Clopton, near Oundle, was born in the royal manor house of Brigstock. His father, an attorney representing Northamptonshire clients in the common pleas from the 1470s until at least 1505, had prospered sufficiently to acquire the manors of Hemington and Hanging Houghton.

Thomas Montagu is his father, not his son, what a mix-up we have here when it's clearly written on Thomas' profile

and his mother was Agnes Montagu

It now seems that Thomas Montagu was descended from the family of Ladde from the hamlet of Hanging Houghton, in the Parish of Lamport, Northamptonshire, England. It was Thomas' father, Richard Ladde, who first used the surname of Montagu in early 1448, but why he assumed that name is unknown.[3]

Thomas married firstly in or before September 1485, Agnes Dudley, daughter of William Dudley, of Clopton, Northamptonshire.[11]

They had the following two sons and possibly a daughter, but there may have been other children:

Edward Montagu, born circa 1487[12] at Brigstock Manor;

John Montagu (often thought to be the elder son[13] but perhaps a younger son[14]);

Daughter (unnamed), married man of Warner family.[15]

Thomas' second wife, whom he married in or before 1512, was Mary Lane, daughter of William Lane, of Finedon.[16] There seems to be no children from this marriage.
