I just found this site that has the most information I've ever seen onRebecca Cherry. It definitely identifies her husband as a John Hodges, but I haven't yet digested all the information and sorted out the connection. Her husband is referred to as John Hodges Sr. but it hasn't been clear to me who HIS parents are or who all their children are. Still working on that, Maybe some of you can put fresh eyes on it and help sort it out. Here are some excerpts where she is mentioned:
"Philemon Hodges, in his RWS Pension Application, declared that his cousin, John Hodges, a recruiting Officer, with brothers Edmond and Joseph, came to his father's house in Cumberland Co., NC. Philemon Hodges further stated that he, and his brother William, went with him returning to the home of John's father near Long Bluff, SC. This John Hodges, recruiting officer was John Hodges, Jr. m. Anna Magee and son of John Hodges, Sr. m. Rebecca Cherry.
Rebecca Cherry Hodges departed this life in Darlington District in 1791; John Hodges (Jr.) filed for Letters if Administration of the Estate of Rebecca Hodges in May 1791. Rebecca Hodges is enumerated in 1790 St. Thomas Parish, Cheraws District, SC (that part which became Darlington). These folks lived in the Long Bluff - Society Hill area."
