The Great Seal, of Massachusetts, was earliest (no?) adopted in 1775, 2 years after the death of this individual, my ancestor. I do not know his opinion on the "Intolerable" Acts that were being foisted upon the colonists by the British Parliament, but 1/3+ of his children were afterwards brought up by Capt. Jeremiah Page of the Danvers militia company when they fought in Lexington &c., never minding that the Massachusetts bill to incorporate Danvers (then still with Peabody), as a separate town from Salem, had been 15+ years unsigned by King George III at that time. So the then-current Union Jack in the canton of the flag occasionally used by the Province of Massachusetts Bay seems slightly more in-appropriate too. The British union jack itself, while accurate, seems overly remote, and unsubstantiated, by this late date too (no?).
So I guess I will NOT lobby for the image to be removed. But these complaints should still be taken, and these issues should also be noted. Here will do, I guess. :)
But just don't talk to me about using the current Canadian flag, on folks deceased before 1865 (except in Ontario, maybe).
