I come from a line of Troops who have lived in Nova Scotia since the 17th century. My sixth great-grandfather Valentine Troop is the one who came to the colony, and his parentage is utterly unknown to genealogists. There is an old article called "Valentine Troop, who begat thee?"
Just today, I was looking at FamilyTreeDNA's shared origins map feature, and noticed a "Troupp" who was a distant cousin to me, but he listed the name as Latvian. So I looked more into it and found your page here.
The Valentine Troop I refer to can be found here: Valentine Troop
Is there any chance he actually comes descended from the Latvian Trups?
