I don't believe this to be correct. Some family trees list a Hannah Purdy that married a Joseph Banks. Could these two been mixed up?

According to Lyon Memorial for the Connecticut and New Jersey branch (authored by members of the family, published in 1907), it is correct as Geni had it, unless I missed a recent change. (p. 89-90).

"ISAACS LYON [Thomas2, Henryi], was born in Newark, N. J. in 1691, and died Feb. 3, 1764; buried at Newark. He married Hannah, daughter of Rev. Abraham and Abigail (Clark) Pierson.

"The will of Isaac Lyon of Newark, Essex County, N. J., dated Nov. 17, 1763, mentions wife Hannah; children: Abigail, Jane, John, Eliphalet and Mattaniah; grand-child, Lucy Pierson. Items: wife Hannah received four large silver spoons; Abigail, teaspoons
marked E and £60; Jane £40. Executors: sons John, Eliphalet and Mattaniah. Witnesses: Elijah Bruen, Joseph Hayes, Jr., and Samuel Hayes. Probated Feb. 28, 1764"

The Lyon family was huge and resourceful enough to publish their own family genealogies, early on (over a century ago). Besides the Connecticut / NJ branch there was also a New York branch and a Massachusetts branch. All three branches are extensively recorded and documented, with substantial information provided in three books of genealogy written by members of the family working together on them.

Correction: Isaac 3 (not "Isaacs")

I don't understand what happened to the profile. How did Hannah Pierson become Hannah "Banks"?

I was going to remove the name Banks but it is locked which is why I posted this. She is my 7th great grandmother.

I tried adding another husband Joseph Banks cause some sources had a Hannah married to him but then found sources that said Hannah Purdy married Joseph Banks so I deleted him. I cleaned up the about section some.

I am related thru Mattaniah Lyon . I'm not really that knowledgeable about his siblings but I think maybe some extra kids got added that I did not know were extras. But according to the help and information you provided Private User that is what it looks like now. So again I thank you. :) I appreciate all the help I can get because I am still learning.

You're welcome, Keri, I'm always glad to be of help if possible. I don't know of any direct Lyon ancestors, but there was some intermarriage with them and some of my Denmans. So I consider them cousins, :)

Private User I now know how the surname Banks got added to Hannah. Somehow two different Lyon families got merged. Trying to figure out where. Roger and James listed as children are not children of Isaac Lyon and Hannah Pierson but they are the children of John Lyon and Hannah Banks I believe.

Thank you Keri, for the updates and all of your efforts to improve the integrity of the tree through every means available. Serious genealogy is as challenging as it is meaningful; your ability and dedication, inspiring.
