Mattheiss Riehell - Mattheisiss Riehell

The parents of Mattheiss Riehell are not known. At one time Jacob Riegel and Barbara Rebentisch of Chemnitz, Saxony, were mistakenly believed to be the parents of Mattheiss Riehell of Münster Emmel, the Pfalz (Palatinate), but this is now known to be incorrect. Not only are Saxony and the Palatinate completely different parts of Germany, but also these were completely different families with different surnames living at different times. Jacob was assigned several erroneous names, like Ruel, Ruell, and Reul, as well as several children who do not belong to him. The only known children of Jacob and Barbara Riegel were Matthias (thus the confusion with Mattheiss), Christoff, Rosina, and Joerg.
