Vanwege deze blokkade heb ik een nieuwe Coffee Corner geopend speciaal voor Geni-gebruikers die wel graag met collegae all over the world willem kunnen chatten over hun Zuid-Afrikaanse roots of over andere kwesties e/o genealogische vragen m.b.t. Zuid-Afrikaanse profielen.

In the meantime someone has opened this portal for me, Thanks a lot, for I was very surprised that a geni-users with so many years of experience could not be partner in a country-portal so close to our heritage.

I am from South Africa and dont know anybody from the Netherlands , but in our family was like our grand , grand fathers was from the Netherlands.

Hello there OEHOE from nl. I am from za. My grear-great-great-great-grandfather on my mother's side is the progenitor of the surname De Lange in South Africa. He came here from Holtrop in East Friesland in 1747/8. Not many details about him are known. Nor is it certain who the three generations before him were, with at least two conflicting versions on record. Can you help with this? If you are prepared to help I can share with you whatever information I have about him. Should you prefer to interact with me via e-mail I can give you my address. (And my apologies for not communicating with you in Dutch, but your English is obviously much better than my Dutch.)

Hi Michiel, please start to put in Geni as much as you know inclusive the profiles you are not yet certain of, then I can learn you how you can search your profiles in the Netherlands.

I am not sure who started Welkom Cuzzins project therefore I cannot answer the above questions.

Are you part of this famy tree? Why would you want to join if you aren't?

I am part of the Barnard tree. I did not ask to be on the Welkom project. I don't have any family in Holland. My first cousin's wife (both deceased) was married to a woman of Dutch descent. And also, I am very new at genealogy and cannot imagine why anyone would single me out to ask me questions in this regard. Please remove me from the project if you can.
