Israel Hersch Alter died in 1891, I think, before his wife moved to Warsaw... and remaried with Glicksman in approximately 1901. Her son Jerzy Gliksman was born 23 june 1902.

Wiktor (also spelled Victor) Alter was born on February 7, 1890, in Mlawa, then part of Russian Poland. His father, Israel, was a prosperous wood merchant from a Hasidic family, who died when his son was 1. The family moved to Warsaw, where Wiktor was educated at secular schools and became interested in political activism early.

Syma Alter moved to Warsaw in 1899 and lived at 4 Elektoralna, Warsaw.

See page 306 of this (1898): http://mbc.cyfrowemazowsze.pl/dlibra/docmetadata?id=34776&from=...

And page 297 of this (1899):

Syma married Israel-Wolf Gliksman in 1908.

I haven't found any information confirming when Israel-Hersch died. If someone knows, I'm very curious.

How interesting Seth Alter!
If I can help you with something, please aks me.
I'm living in Belgium, related to the Fuss-family and very interested in labor movement history.
Do you know this article about the Alter family in Belgium? It's in Dutch.

This weekend, I'll make a first 'Google Translation' version of the article...

Joeri Puissant I just sent you a private message. Thank you for offering to help.

I have found that Dutch article already and I made my own Google Translate version :)

Ron Abiri Do you know the source of the photograph of Israel-Hersch? (By the way I am a descendant of Mosche Alter, Rojza's brother)

Try contacting Marc (vico) HERSCH , Email: vicoh@sasa.org.il. He is active in MyHeritage, less in Geni
