Henry H. Cranford was called Hen Cranford by his family and neighbors in Grant Township, Randolph County, NC. He is my Third great Uncle, brother to Martha Cranford who married Abraham Wellington "Bud" Goins. It is known that Ransom Cranford and Nancy Linnens Cranford are the parents of Hen, But little information has been gleaned on Hen Cranford's rather Ransom. Ransom Cranford ran a ferry across Deep River according to his grand-daughter, Norvie Goins Yow. He was part of the Elderly Guard of the Civil War, but could not serve in battle because of a severely burned and disfigured right hand from a fire. Ransom Cranford married prior to Martha Goins. His first wife was an Elizabeth Doby and they were from Davidson County, NC. Not much else can be found on him.
