Gives the impression that his brother William was alive when he was sentenced in 1842

Hi Leanne, Thomas Dougherty was my great great grandfather. I'm not sure, apart from William, how many children Andrew had. I have a contact who is an Irish genealogy expert so I'm trying to research more through her. I'd be happy to keep you in the loop if you want.

Hi, it's Belinda Fisher, not Howard and I'm working on confirming that relationship. I do have details from foundersandsurvivors.com that states that relationship based on other family's research -

As you would be aware, a lot of records were destroyed in the 1922 four courts fires, it is presumed that early records of Thomas and his family were in those fires.

The records only list "Father: Andrew; Mother or step-mother: Margaret; half-bro. William.". I assume these would have come from the court records from the court case in 1842 that sentenced Thomas to transportation.

Which would mean that his father would have had to marry Margaret before 1842 and his brother William would have had to have been born before 1842 for them to be mentioned in the court case in 1842.

The Margaret and William that have been connected to him are
* Margaret married Andrew in 1862
* half brother William was born in 1864

Just thinking logically, I think that 2 Andrew's have become confused and need to be separated.

Andrew 1
* married 1st to ? and had Thomas 1825
* marred 2nd to Margaret ? and had William

Andrew 2
* married Margaret HIDE in 1862 and had children William 1864, Andrew 1869, Annie 1871

It wouldn't surprise me. Like I said, I'm still researching and as you would know, it's a long and dynamic thing. I'll make sure to let you know when I find the right Andrew.
