Sarah was the 5th child of Giles Letcher and Hannah Hughes. She married William Mitchell Sr. which is in my line of kin. I have a handwritten copy ot the Letcher geneology. William Letcher was second son of Giles Letcher and Hannah Hughes and was a martyr of the Revolution of 1776. He was shot by a Tory in his own house while reaching for his gun. He married Elizabeth Perkins and lived in Patrick Co. Va. where he was killed He left but one child, a daughter named Bethena. After the death of William Letcher his widow married Col. George Hairston of Henry Co. Va. Before the War between the states, The Hairstons were the wealthiest family in the state. Bethene married David Pannel, a merchant. She was a very beautiful woman and so dainty in her ways. They had 2 children William Letcher and Elizabeth.
