This is a direct ancestor of Kenny Rogers and appears to be the point from which we're inferring that Rogers had Cherokee ancestry.

Here's what the profile previously said:

Birth: May 20, 1870 - Cherokee Nation Road, Muldrow, Sequoyah County, OK, 74948, United States
Death: February 28, 1960 - Apple Springs, Trinity County, TX, United States

I've corrected this to reflect what his records say:

Birth: May 24, 1870 - Pennington, Trinity County, Texas, United States
Death: February 27, 1960 - Lufkin, Angelina County, Texas, United States

It's important to note that he was listed as white on all the records I'm finding, so I'm thinking the Cherokee info might be from a bad source. There are no sources on this profile, though, so I wanted to start a thread.

Perhaps Kenny Rogers *did* have Cherokee ancestry, but through a different ancestor? If so, let's get that cited.

Per Kenny Rogers' Los Angeles Times obituary, he believed he was "possibly" Native American through his grandmother Della Armo Rogers but all the records I'm finding for her and her parents indicate they were white. I'm also not finding anyone from either side on tribal rolls. So I've removed the "Cherokee Native American" notation from the ethnicity fields on profiles in the Rogers line.
