I have hit a brickwall in searching for my great grandfather
Erik Olsen Ulsanden b September 8, 1854. The last time I see him is 1875 Census, he lived on the Brimi farm outside of Lom. That is the year that my grandfather Ole Sand was born on that farm as an illegitimate child of Erik. I have traced my great grandmother. They were never married, and she ended marrying someone else and eventually came to the US to live with my grandfather Ole Sand.
His brother is Ole Olsen Ulsanden b June 17, 1849. They were from the Ulsanden farm in Vågå, Oppland. I have found Ole’s daughter Elene who came to the US, changed her name to Elaine. She married and had 3 children. The children never had children, so that line is gone. Ole had a son who I found on a ship coming to the US.
Ole Olsson Ulsanden b July 18, 1884 immigrated on the ship Oskar 11. He arrived in New York from Oslo on 05/02/1906. The ships record stated he was going to Medora, North Dakota. That is the last time I can find him.
A number of years ago, I had some Norwegian genealogists helping me try to find Erik. They told me to give up on him and try and find his family. Ole Olsen Ulsanden, my great uncle had other children, but I could not trace them.
Update March 2020. I found in the Vaga church records from Sel a Erik Olsen, born 1854, died 3/24/1888, buried 4/24/1888.
