She married John Holland Clarke 6 Oct 1904 in Baumber, she was 24. Parents: Joseph William married Ellen Holmes in 1879 and she is not on the 1891 Census when she would have been 11 years old. I have been unable to find her birth record which should Baumber. I will follow this up in the records office in Lincoln once allowed to do so

Thanks Paul, for commenting on this. I will review my previous research on this topic, hopefully this evening, and get back to you.

I have checked the marriage register for Florence. As you say, she was married on 6 Oct 1904 at Baumber, aged 24, residence Baumber, father Joseph William Gell, a carpenter.

The birth details, from the UK GRO for Florence born in Huntingdonshire are: GELL, FLORENCE LOUISA, mother's maiden name HOLMES 1880 M Quarter in SAINT IVES Volume 03B Page 292.

The birth year of 1880 agrees with her age at her marriage. Her father is Joseph William, and her mother's maiden name is Holmes. I haven't been able to find a baptism record to confirm her mother's forename.

Searching for any marriage records there is only one in the period 1850-1881 in England with groom Joseph William Gell and bride's surname Holmes. This is the marriage on 3 Jun 1879 of Joseph William Gell to Ellen Holmes at Baumber. Joseph's father's name is John Gell. Joseph's occupation is wheelwright.

The 1881 census lists Joseph William, birthplace Baumber, aged 23, occupation wheelwright, wife Ellen, birthplace Freiston, age 22 and daughter Florence L., birthplace Hemingford Grey, aged 1, all living at Hemingford Grey.

The 1891 census lists Joseph William, birthplace Baumber, aged 33, occupation (railway) joiner, wife Ellen, birthplace Freiston, aged 32, daughter Florence L, birthplace Hemingford Grey, aged 11, son Albert F. birthplace Fenstanton, aged 7, and daughter Margaret E., birthplace Hendon, Middlesex, aged 1, all living at Whittington, Derbyshire.

The 1901 census for Joseph William and Ellen have the family, with further children, living back in Baumber with Joseph's father John Gell. All details are entirely consistent with the previous information, although both Florence and Albert are not living at home.

As for Florence, the 1901 census lists her in service, as a nursemaid, at Bullwell, Nottinghamshire, birthplace Huntingdonshire, aged 21.

Therefore, it is perfectly reasonable that Florence would marry at Baumber in 1904.

Finally, the 1911 census lists Florence, birthplace St Ives, Huntingdonshire, aged 31, her husband John Holland Clarke, and their only child Arthur William Clarke, living at Balby, Yorkshire. Meanwhile, Joseph William and Ellen, with two of their children, are living at Lincoln.

Thus I see no evidence that this Florence was not the daughter of Joseph William Gell and Ellen Holmes. In fact, all the documents make a strong, cohesive, family story.

So I have to conclude that Florence is in the 1891 census. She was not born at Baumber.

Of course, if you find any evidence to the contrary, I am always open to considering that, and correcting any mistakes I have made.
