I have been on a trek through the Floyd, Lewis, Graham, Grainger, and Gerrald/Garrell/Gerald families in Horry/Georgetown, SC as they are very tangled. Brothers marrying sisters in various families and causing the same given names to multiply and confuse.

This is a case of Samuel B. Gerrald/Garrall (1765-1850) Samuel B. Gerrald or Garrell, Sr
and multiple partners named Catherine Floyd or Catherine Lewis.

There is a William Samuel Gerrald (1765-1850) William Samuel Gerrald who is also listed on findagrave https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/173314358/william-samuel-gerrald. William Samuel is married to Zilphia Lewis. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/173313698/zilphia-gerrald. Zilphia is the daughter of William Lewis, II and Mourning Lewis. Is this where the "Lewis" confusion comes in?

Family Search confuses things even more with a listing of Catherine Floyd as wife of Samuel B. Gerrald https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LDCM-PZX as the daughter of Francis Floyd. But the age of that Catherine would too young to have born the children of Samuel B. Gerrald. Francis' brother Frederick Hardee Floyd also had a daughter named Catherine who married a "Garrell" but she would also be too young to be the wife of Samuel B. Gerrald/Garrell. By the way, Francis' daughter Catherine married a Samuel Gerrald and lived in Robeson County, NC, making things even more confusing down the line. I am pulling trying to source that as it is there.

So, what could be the origin of Catherine, wife of Samuel B. Gerrald? This is my working hypothesis and that is all it is or ever may be. Could Catherine Sr. be the daughter of Andrew Johnson Floyd who was the father of Francis and Frederick? We may never be able to prove it, but women are just unknown in so many cases. Somehow it has been noted she is a Floyd. It was not uncommon (and this family surely proves it) that names were passed down and favored siblings were memorialized. I think there was an older Catherine who married Samuel B. Gerrald.

There is another Sarah "Prudence" (Floyd) Reaves who lived about that time period and I have long suspected could be another daughter of Andrew Floyd. I can find no other viable options. Does anyone have anymore information on any of these profiles listed. I would never add any of my suppositions as fact, but if there is any evidence out there, let's find it. Right now, the confusion on Samuel B. Gerrald's wives needs to be fixed. Any suggestions?
