I have found references to an Archibald GILLIES and Margaret MacPHERSON who arrived on "Bushorah Merchant" in 1850

He was born in 1894 and died in 1992
Wife: Alice Selina Mary Gillies born 1896 and died 1981

Cyril's parents names are William Gillies and Lucy Amanda Gillies (born James)

@ Cyril Stanley Gillies is my wife's grandfather. The only rwo Williams we have in our tree are 1> William MacPherson williams, husband of Lucy Amanda, Father of Cyril (Stan) and 2. William Roland, Son of William MacPherson and brother of Cyril.

Cyril's father's name is William Gillies right? Not just William McPherson?
I'm a bit confused by that. But all the other stuff is not relevant I don't think.

It appears to be William McPherson Gillies unless someone has just added his mothers maiden name into his middle name

Sarah. My information regarding the name "William MacPherson GIllies" i believe came from Judith, Wife of Daryl Gillies, son of Charles Alfred (Alf) Gillies. The second christian name may be incorrect. There is no doubt that Cyrils Parents were William and Lucy Amanda

It appears that the second christian name "MacPherson" is a add in. https://familyhistory.bdm.nsw.gov.au/lifelink/familyhistory/search/... shows "William Gillies" born to Malcolm Gillies and Margaret Macpherson at Raymond Terrace AKA Hunter river. Registration number is 14474/1865.
I am going to amend my entry to delete the second christian name.
