Can you tell me more? How did his father die and why did his death prompt him to leave Sweden and come to America?
Do you know what ship he sailed and where it docked in the US? How did he come to live in Minnesota?

I'm not related to Carl - there is an in-law relationship passing two marriages.

His father died of old age according to the death record.

The emigration record states he left Sweden from Göteborg with destination St Paul. Probably entered US in April 1869 through Ellis Island.
