I know you guys didn't post that she was Cherokee Indian. That comment was printed in a book, "Borens"...by Helen Meeks. This book was written before DNA became common. My mother and I took the DNA test by FamilyTree DNA and me by Ancestry. I am descended from Nancy and James Boren thru William, Israel, Paralee Boren married to JH Maddox then son John Mae Maddox was my grandfather. I have no markers for Native American. My cousins have no Native American markers. I will be glad to retest any DNA test. I believe Nancy was educated, because she & daughter Polly Tamelia Teel started a school before Santa Anna chased them up to Ennis and McKinney, Texas area. No one has been able to prove where Nancy is buried which adds to mystery. She is said to be burried at the Boren Cemetery in Ennis, but I believe she is burried near her youngest son in another Ennis cemetery, but I can't prove it. Her grandson took over the family farm. Nancy Boren is proven DRT and I did that research.
