Hello, I'm Sandi Randle. Hiram Henry Newton Daugherty and his wife Mary Jane Goodnight are my 3rd great grandparents. Their son Jasper Newton "Newt" Daugherty Sr. is my 2nd great grandfather, his son Jasper Newton Daugherty Jr., is my great grandfather, his son Almer 'Dooley' Daugherty is my grandfather, his daughter Ethelene is my mother. She married Jim Short, hence the end of the Daugherty name in this line. Believing Hiram Pattison and Nancy 'Hayes' Daugherty were Hiram HN Daugherty's parents, I did a lot of research on them. I have found that it's an impossibility to be so. First Hiram P Daugherty was born abt 1858 in Johnson, Tennessee. See 1860 US Federal Census for District 10, Johnson, Tennessee, showing him as 2 yrs old with (Colonel) Anthony C Daugherty and Deborah (Ford) as his parents. In the 1880 US Federal Census for Watauga, North Carolina Hiram P is found working on his uncles farm. Their name is Hayes and they have a daughter named Nancy L Hayes. Then on the 1900 Federal Census Hiram is married to Nancy with 4 children in Beaver Dam, Watauga, North Carolina. Now Hiram H N Daugherty was born in 1809 in Lincoln, Kentucky. He died in 1870 in Milam, Texas. On the 1940 Watauga, NC census it shows Hiram P 81yrs old and Nancy 86yrs old, both born in Tennessee. There is a clear line of census records for Hiram P and Nancy and they never had a child named Hiram. Still Searching...
