I have just moved from RM269 to R-Z36 after a Y-DNA 111 test.

The R-Z36 is a more narrowly focused Haplogroup than R-M269 narrowing the path of your paternal ancestors. Mine was the same and then after doing the Y-700 it narrow it down further to R-FT37285.

Yes, R-Z36 is a focused Haplogroup from the Alpine region related to La Tene Culture. I hope to find the 'House of Wettin' in the end because I have no surname for my German great grandfather.

According to Geni my lineage includes the “House of Wettin” peerage.

This is all tied up with my illegitimate grandfather born in Windsor with a German (possibly French) father. He apparently was given permission to roam the grounds and at 17ish was ordered (by his father's family) to relocate to Australia where he would be trained to raise horses. He rebelled and joined the Army and was sent to India out of the way. It had a big impact on him and his family. I started a DNA search because I do not want his tragic story forgotten.

yeah mine was the same R1b-Z36 exactly
