Who was his parents? Have been told his mother was "Nancy" no proof whatsoever. He was reared in Campbell County Tn but moved to Anderson County Tn around 1830's . Married to a Gemima Still, dtr of James Still from NC but living in Anderson County about the same time period. Elias' Civil War discharge papers spell his name Poleston. I feel he is from the John Poston from St Mary's County Maryland. This is the only family that I can trace with any "Elias" names.
