Suggested I put this HERE:

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087, try posting a link to the profile and outlining what you think the problem is in this discussion https://www.geni.com/discussions/185827

Parents, and Julian date vs Gregorian date. Not enuff research on either part. The left one can clarify the parents. I as a genealogist would probably merge them and then do the research on added and/or missing information. I would collaborate with the managers prior to merging.

Not really sure where the match to my Family History is. Susan Arnold

Why did I receive a message regarding this post? Not a member of my family.

Are we related?

I don't have a clue why you are responding to my "help" And what is "my help".?
Do you believe we are relatives?
I do not believe it.
Please respond.

i think the profile managers need to make that call

Why am I paying for such rubish?
Nothing to do with me and my family.

Please explain.

I have no idea what this "Help" is. Can someone explain why I am getting these notifications? Thank you!

I’m not sure about this either. I just got an email saying that a group in my portal started a conversation

this is the 4th email i've received regarding this and still don't have any idea what this is about., so i may be opting out of Geni completely.

I did too... hmmmm

It is because you are part of the USA Portal group. You can unfollow the discussion by clicking the "unfollow" button at the top of the page.

If you're having a problem with getting messages about this profile, take a look in the manager options for this profile and make sure you aren't listed as a manager. And secondly, there's no need to be nasty about it. This is a collaborative site. If you can't even be nice enough in a delivery error (which may end up being your own fault) how pleasant are you going to be to work with here on geni? Way to start a new year - not.

As to the question of whether or not these profiles should be merged, I would agree that they should be merged and then researched. But I don't want another merge issue in my profile. I already have a bunch I'm working on for other people. I would suggest that you, Cynthia Curtis (Hicks), TN491427c1 , figure out who the real parents are and then let me know. Then I will merge and remove the incorrect parents. Thanks for bringing up this subject.

What does this have to do with me?

Lovely. I think a forum is a wonderful idea.
I use many sites and each for a different reason. One of the sites I used was FamilySearch because it was free and it gave me a starting place to learn how all this works. The information on the FamilySearch site began to differ from the other sites. So I took a look at what was going on there. It seems the people that killed my ex-husband and took all his information, including family history, were posting to the FamilySearch site.
I tried to alert them that the information was false and the people posting it were criminals but they refused to believe me.
Once the information on that site included not only biblical characters but people from fiction and Folk lore, they began deleting it. But the amount of time that it remained on the site may have been seriously detrimental to people who may have included it in their trees
I think these sites should have an early warning system so that people can stop that sort of vandalism before it is so destructive.

This is my first post. What is the problem?

This is weird and I don't know why I got an email about this.

Other than I suspect miss Hicks and i are related and i have seen the Fort and Pope relation elsewhere, maybe my tree, I too am at a loss as to what this all means. If this is supposed to be a "discussion" that seems to be elusive. I do agree with Kathleen Findlay. FamilySearch destroyed much of my family too.

Not sure why I was contacted, but if I can help I don’t mind.

Hello.

I stand ready to help if I can. I do believe that there is the Pope family somewhere in my tree. The tree is incomplete and mostly done on the maternal side. Good hunting!

Not sure why I received a post either but will help if I can! I do know that I have Hicks in my tree but am unsure of why I got a post.

I’m unsure too...

Cynthia Curtis, A183502, US7875087, It was a little complicated but I think I straightened things out.

Just curious to know why i received a email about this group discussion?

I don't see why I received this either. How do I leave the discussion

I don't mind helping when I can, in fact I want to. It would be better if this "forum" included an intuitive link to an informative summary. Most of the inferences here are not helpful and not informative. If you don't want to participate, just exit, don't reply. If you don't want to be asked to help use the unfollow. this is what I am surmising by looking around the screen. I hate the word ASSUME! And that is exactly what I am not liking about this "forum", assumptions are abounding
