So how is this correct? How was Colonel Lawrence Smith my ancestor?
Supposedly our line of Smiths are related to the Sydney Smith’s but we can’t prove it. For probably over 150 years maybe Almost
close to 200. We were unable to find a link that connects our Smiths with customer Smith. The Lords of Westinhanger And Lord Strangford. Governor William extra Billy Smith had a ring with the Smith coat of arms on it which was a gold background with a blue sash and three lions on it. So this supposed to ancestor his name was Sydney Smith. So let’s get the ball rolling and talk about this supposed line that connects Lawrence Smith to me and my family.

Only you can know if this is your line...my line was done by a hired genealogist. Lawrence is my 8th great grandfather.

And that makes you my 7th Cousin, if your line is correct.

My 10th Grandfather -- line looks correct on my end.

Col. Lawrence Smith is your 10th great grandfather.

We’re trying to figure out. Where the Smith came from. My third cousin believes that we are related to the Lord Strangford and Westinhanger Smythes. Plus Governor William Smith of Virginia had a ring with the Smith coat of arms on it supposedly with the three Lions and sash. From our side of the family we couldn’t find a Smith that was related to us directly in about 200 years. It was a mystery. Supposedly Sydney Smith is our ancestor. But until recently I’ve never heard of Colonel Lawrence Smith. But evidence shows Col Lawrence Smith’s line that there is a Blount and the Smiths are related to the Blount's. It’s also like Reverend David Stewart who came from Scotland in 1715 and is supposedly related to the Earls and Moray. I’m looking for Thomas Customer Smythe as a direct ancestor.

Linda Carr Buchholz, i had no idea we shared this Smith line..this is moms side, and mine looks correft as well. This is so cool that we share this line as well!

We're probably related 10 ways to Sunday. LOL

Someone connected my line to Lawrence Smith I didn’t do that. I think both of you should look at my first cousin five times removed Governor William Smith known as extra Billy Smith of Virginia. Both of his parents were first cousins. Look at his picture do you have any Smiths that look like him in your lines? I know for a fact my older brother looks exactly like him. And his ancestors are listed at Sydney Smith not Col Lawrence Smith. But if any of your Smiths look like my smiths then I will agree there’s a 99% chance that were related. Are used to work at my former job with a gentleman whose last name was Smith. I didn’t know it at the time. But when I found a picture of extra Billy Smith. He looked exactly like this guy that I used to work with And my Older brother.

And a lot of times among English folks during that time first names were given family names. So there would be a pattern between William Thomas etc. etc. and then they would throw in a middle name from the mothers family. For instance five generations ago Conway is in ancestral surname on my side of the family. So is Alexander, so is Foote, Blackwell The last William Smith and my family Line was William Rowley Smith. But Alexander continued and middle names. My grandfather’s middle name was Alexander and my younger brother’s middle name is also Alexander. We never had any Christopher Smith in our line in the 19th century. It all became Henry or William oh and technically Governor William Smith is actually the last William Smith in my line.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Howard_W._Smith This is another Smith that I’m very closely related to. If he looks like any of your Smith’s please let me know.

They were two kinds of Smith’s and my family there were the white Smiths and the blacksmith. Some were very fair and complexion and some were Mediterranean looking. I attribute that to both my Spanish ancestry and Native American ancestry.

I also look at the aristocratic Smiths in England they look like my Smiths.

The thing is we can’t prove directly that we’re related to Thomas customer Smith. But that is what our family believes information was lost during the revolutionary war. More evidence I’m sure was probably burned during the Civil War. These are one of the two ancestral mysteries that I have questions for. Now if I’m related to Col Lawrence Smith indeed then I’ll accept it but me and my cousin need genealogical proof. Records and not Internet records.

What other ancestral mystery is Reverend David Stuart who came over to settle Virginia in the Early 18th century. And has a connection to the Earls Of Moray A lot of people on the Internet list who his parents are. This is not correct. But we all speculate that he comes from the Earl of Moray line not directly but he is of that family branch. Once again this is something we cannot prove but what we can prove is that Lucy Erskine was not his mother. And it will say that on this website but it’s not correct and I’ve asked Erica Howton to disconnect it and she’s done it before and then I find it reconnected again to Lucy Erskine.

Probably Linda Carr Buchholz!😂
