If its alright with those of you who are curators of any of the profiles attached to the descendants of John Bigelow of Watertown, I will be starting with John, the progenitor of my family, and running through the tree as descends to me, checking the entries against both the Bigelow Family Genealogy vol. 1 and Genealogy of the Bigelow Family of America by Gillman Bigelow Howe, the two bibles of this family, and along the way will change the curator to myself.

John Biglo (Bigelow) of Watertown

Fine with me.

Private User, please feel free to take over the curatorship of any of my curated Bigelows that you are interested in up keeping.

Of course the same for me.

It's okay - with exception that not everything in those books is valid - as there have been many discrepancies with regard to our relation to King Edward and his wife's Lady in Waiting (Gilred?). I've been able to trace the family back to Yves De Criel. I also seem to remember one of our castles as being Arundel but now can't find the connection. Just be careful. Those books aren't law. Also, you'll want to find the note in the 1950s that makes John Bigelow of Watertown the same as Sir John Baguley of Suffolk - it's a document that states John in Mass. drew the family crest of Baguley because John could neither read nor write -that's how they made the actual connection - even though the Priest said that John Baguley is John Bigelow. I've used my lineage to join the S.A.R.

The BIgelow CoA is the same as the Baguley CoA with the exception of the bore tincture being argent instead of or. I’ve not found a date when the argent 3 lozenges azure was born but the original Baguley seal or 3 lozenges azure was destroyed sometime in the 1300’s I believe due to a marriage in which a name changed. Its possible then that the CoA was reinvented with differing tinctures by the siblings who maintained the Baguley name but I’ve found no source for this theory.

I’m curious about the note you reference as I’ve not seen it before, would you have a link?
