Ten years ago I added a profile to my Tree. Recently I saw I put the wrong profile picture and birth date so I wanted to change things. Then I saw that the profile has no manager options nor under Actions a way to add a manager or edit profile.

I do not understand why or what happened. So I checked other profiles and saw that some do not have any more these option as I wrote above and some are with the same managing or editing possibilities.

Please help. Thanks.

Could you please provide a link to the profile in question? Paste the URL for the profile into the discussion.

It sounds like your relative's profile may be claimed, i.e. they created a Geni account and linked it to that profile. If they are Geni users then you cannot edit their profiles.

Tamas

Thank you for your reply. This is the profile
Private User

To the best of my knowledge, he never uses Geni, the proof is that the profile picture is not his. I doubt if the profile was claimed, but how can one know?

I found some other profiles with the same problem. I also saw that some of the profiles that I added I was removed as a manager while I am the close relative and not the other person who made him or herself manager.

Yes, Private User is a Geni user. I am not sure how much you can see on his profile (depends on his privacy settings), but if you look at the tree view for a claimed profile, their profile picture should have a blue border around it. Also, user profiles sometimes show the date they joined Geni or the last time that they were active and they have an "activity" tab on their profile. They also have no profile managers as the managers are removed when they claim their profile.

You can see the list of profiles around you that are claimed if you go to your profile and click on "profiles added" or "blood relatives" under "statistics" on the right of the page. You can filter the list to only include Geni users by clicking on "users and non-users" under "Filters" on the left side of the page and selecting "users only." Most of your descendants for example are claimed profiles (they have Geni accounts).

Hi Tamas,

I saw the blue border around Omer's picture but it is not his picture. The two men are not his blood relatives and the two kids are 2nd and 3rd cousins but neither are he himself. I saw he joined Geni 3 days after I added him. He must have changed the birth date because I gave the exact date and this is not so anymore. There is no way to see his activity. I understand now the reason for all of this thanks to your explanation.

Unfortunately under "statistics", I can get the blood relatives statistics but no "users or non-users" no filters either. Maybe I cannot access these items because I am a basic users i.e. I am not a paying user? My descendants claimed their profiles with my total approval of course.

Thank you Tamas for your supportive replies. One thing I did not understand what about the people who claimed profiles I added who is not the owner of the profile and not even close or blood related? How could they delete me as a manager?

I would like to add one remark as to the new inconsistency addition. It is hilarious I will give you one of many examples the picture on my father's profile
Joseph Ackermann
It says: Joseph Ackermann was tagged in a photo with a date prior to his birth date.
I am unable to figure that out.
Thanks again,
Nurit

About the inconsistency on your father's picture. If you look at the picture in question, this one: https://www.geni.com/photo/view?album_type=photos_of_me&id=6000...
Notice that the date attached to it is 193. 193 is before 1899. Perhaps a number was forgotten when the date was added.

About removing managers, if a profile is claimed, then the managers are automatically removed. If you believe that a profile was wrongfully claimed by someone other than the person to whom the profile corresponds, you should probably double check with the real person first and if the profile is in fact wrongfully claimed than you might want to report it as such.

Under statistics, did you click on the number which corresponds to the "blood relatives"? That should take you to a list of profiles and the filtering options should be on the left of it.
I'll send you the list that I see in a private message.

For unclaimed profiles, if that profile falls within the "family group" of a user (I think within 4 generations) then they have the ability to remove managers from that profile, provided that the other manager is not also within the family group of the profile in question. Maybe the revisions history on the profile might say if you have been removed as manager. Post one of them here and I'll take a look.

Sincerely,
Tamas

If I could send you a print of the screen I get you would see that there is no total number, of blood relatives there are just various graphs giving me statistics each with its number of people participating in this graph but no number of all the blood relatives.
