re: problems with SmartCopy
... should never require deleting and re-installing the browser.
At worst, might have to remove and re-install the Smart-Copy extension (with the "manage extensions / add-ons inside the browser), but I've never had to do that either.
One *might* have to restart their computer, as sometimes things get thoroughly confused.
The most common technical issues / problems with SmartCopy tend to be:
-- dropped network connections (not really as SmartCopy problem ... just have to retry the action)
-- lack of permission on the Geni side for what you are trying to do (e.g. update a profile you don't have permission to access).
-- (less common) the SmartCopy "authorization service" is hung. If you can't logout & login after using the "heroku" links (as found in the Project), then that service has to be restarted.
(The error message from a 'dropped' connection depends on exactly what was happening at the time, thus is not always the same ... but is usually rather intermittent if you otherwise have good connectivity to other Internet sites).
