Notes for Elkanah Perkins: There has been quite a bit of confusion regarding the parents of Elkanah and Phebe (unk) Perkins. Many online sources attribute his father to be Elisha Perkins b 1776 and a grandson of Joel Perkins & Mehitable Brooks and Phebe's parents as Oliver & Polly Millington Riley. These theories were originally suggested in the book; "A History of Stony Creek - The First Hundred Years, 1771-1860's, Vol.1, David & Edythe Haskell,1991". I believe these theories to be inaccurate based on the following:
DNA Testing Results: Y DNA results indicate descendants of the above Elisha Perkins is a descendant of Edward Perkins b 1607 that settled in New Haven, CT. Our Perkins line descends from John Perkins b 1585, who settled in Ipswich, MA in 1635.The halpgroups can be compared by viewing the profile of John Perkins and Ketchell Perkins (on Wikitree.com). Research has determined there is a close connection (6-12 generations) to Newman Perkins b 1711, New London, Connecticut and his wife Mehitable Godfrey.
Autosomal DNA results show a strong connection to the descendants of Joel Perkins and his wife Mehitable Brooks, which would suggest the autosomal DNA connection is through either Phebe unk Perkins or Elkanah's mother. In addition there is a strong autosomal connection to the Millington's.

Theory #2 Elkanah Perkins was the son of Elisha Perkins b 1752, son of Elisha and Lucy Tarbox. This theory is also incorrect is that Elkanah is the son of Elisha Perkins b 1752, Wenham, Massachusetts, son of Elisha Perkins b 1714 and Lucy Tarbox. This Elisha Perkins was born 24 Mar 1752 and died 4 Apr 1752. Elisha & Lucy Tarbox Perkins were not the parents or grandparents of Elkanah Perkins b 1790/1 or his wife Phebe Perkins b 1795.
