In 1915, Jesse Perkins was working as a night watchman at the Tennantville Mill owned by the family of his son in law George Tennant. A fire broke out and Jesse died during the fire. According to newspaper accounts George and Vida Perkins Tennant sounded the alarm and tried to save Jesse and the mill. Unfortunately they were unsuccessful. Jeese Perkins was the first approved Workman's Comp claim from the area.
